Benjamin Chee

Associate Master of Music

Benjamin's love for singing started when he joined the choir in the Church of St Joseph (Bukit Timah) at the age of twelve. Under the guidance of the then choirmaster, William Goh, his passion for music flourished and was encouraged to learn the organ.

During his National Service, he was lucky enough to be posted to Phoenix, Arizona where he had a good taste of excellent choral singing in the Church of St Thomas Aquinas Adult Choir. There, he has sung several big works such as Handel's Messiah and Mozart's Coronation Mass.

In the Church of St Mary of the Angels, he played an instrumental role in pulling the church choirs together. There, he conducted the Te Deum Laudamus choir, the Fifth Canticle choir, the SMOTA children's choir and SMOTA combined choir. He has also attended and participated in several music workshops conducted by renowned conductors and composers such as Tom Anderson, Christopher Walker, Jonathan Velasco and Adrian Chong.

Benjamin has also participated in several seasons with the Celebration Chorus under Tom Anderson. He continues to expand his knowledge of music through learning to play the organ and attending conducting workshops.

In his free time, Benjamin enjoys baking many scruptious goodies.
